There are two parts to the application process for medical schools in the UK. First, they will screen applicants based on their GCSE + BMAT or UCAT scores, which they will interview. The interview and final DSE or IB scores will determine the admission list.
DSE requirements : Biology; Chemistry 5; Math / Physics 5 or above
IB requirements:32-42, 36 is the minimum requirement for most
IELTS requirement: IELTS 7.0-7.5; no less than 7.0 in each section
The UK Medical Foundation requires students to be at least 17 years old when enrolled, complete a one-year UK Foundation course with a grade of 70-75%, and then be able to pass an interview to study medicine in the UK.
Each applicant for studying medicine in the UK can only apply to 4 schools. Since each application form for a UK university allows 5 options to be filled in, students want to know what to fill in the 5th option so that they have the opportunity to be interviewed by the medical school when they are a freshman?
If you are really considering transferring to a British medical school for the first year during your freshman year, you should pay attention to financial arrangements. British medical schools will look at your freshman year, UCAT and interview scores, and will not conduct medical school interviews until the first semester of your sophomore year. When you receive the medical school's acceptance, you will have already started the second semester of your sophomore year. You need to calculate whether your financial and time arrangements are worth transferring to a British medical school for the first year when you have already completed your freshman year?
