Introduction to the British Medical Schools

There are 35 British medical schools accredited by the General Medical Council, with a total of 9,500 medical degrees each year, but no more than 7.5% of the medical degrees are offered to international students. On average, each British medical school has 20 places available for international students. In fact, some British medical schools only have 4-5 places for international students ( there is no limit on the number of places for studying medicine in Australia ~!). The success rate of international students applying to study medicine in the UK is only 6.8%, which is twice as competitive as local British students. I hope the following information can help you choose a British medical school more strategically, because each applicant can only apply to 4 British medical schools at a time, and the deadline is also very early (October of the last year of high school)

British Doctor Salary

UK Hospital Authority

  • British doctors doing internships earn: 30,000-35,000 pounds a year (no wonder they are on strike...)
  • Training for a specialist doctor Salary: 40,000-53,000 pounds a year (just enough for one child to go to boarding school in the UK...)
  • Specialist: £50,000 to £92,000 a year
  • Consultant doctor: £90,000 to £120,000 a year
  • Family doctor: £70,000-100,000 a year (not bad)

After knowing the salary of doctors in the UK, and then looking at the salary of doctors in Hong Kong (details: Studying Medicine from Foreign Countries ) , I found that it is really hard to be a doctor in the UK. Be useful! life! Feeling...

FAQ about studying medicine in the UK

Students can take the BMAT and UCAT every year, but the BMAT and UCAT each year are only applicable for admission to British medical schools in the following year.

  • Yes, but it is not worth it, because your grades will be severely discounted, and even high-level medical schools will not accept this arrangement. If an overseas study consultant recommends that you take one year of A-levels to increase your chances of getting into medical school, be careful! Please ask him to prove which British medical schools you can submit your retake scores to without losing points?
