How to Choose U.S. Boarding Schools?

Ranking: some U.S. universities require applicants to submit SAT / ACT academic aptitude test results.  Parents can use boarding school graduates’ SAT / ACT average as one of the school selection parameters.

U.S. high school curriculum is pretty flexible, parents can see if the boarding school has interesting curriculum / elements such as: STEM, competitions, speaker series, etc.

 

How to Get Admitted to U.S. Boarding Schools?

Some U.S. boarding schools have about 30% quota for international students; &

Applications to U.S. boarding schools are concentrated in California, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut.

So, for applicants applying to boarding schools in these States, they should:

  • Apply for lower grade of entry, e.g. G9; &

  • Achieve minimum SSAT (65%) & TOEFL (60)

**Students applying to higher grade level will require higher SSAT and TOEFL
