Study Urban Planning in UK

The urban planning courses offered by British universities are highly recognized and can help you become an urban planner and surveyor . Welcome to inquire with Maxway Education.

How to become an urban planner?

  • Urban Planning is a profession that covers social sciences, architecture and design. A good Urban Planning degree will teach students to think about urban planning from a sustainable perspective. To implement urban planning or revitalization projects, multiple factors need to be considered, such as legislation, transportation facilities, maintenance costs, and commercial activity diversion.
  • As the UK town planning laws are complex and there are multiple regulatory agencies that need to be coordinated, students need to hold a master's degree from the RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) (4 years) and then 2 years of relevant work experience to become a registered town planner. Town planning courses accredited by RTPI can also be accredited by the Planning Institute Australia.
  • The following are urban planning degrees that are recognized by RTPI and can accept international students. Please note that if it is not a course fully recognized by RTPI , you must complete the 3-year degree and complete the Top Up before you can apply for registration. Therefore, urban planning is a major that cannot be chosen based solely on the UK university rankings .
