BCPNP Scoring Method
The latest nomination score requirement for skilled immigrants is 131 points. The points you get will vary depending on what subjects you study, your income level, and whether you are willing to study at a college outside of Vancouver. The details are as follows:
Related work experience
- Possessing work experience related to BC @ less than 1 year - 5 years or more Score: 1-20 points
- Overseas work experience, part-time, and co-op (i.e. paid internships while studying) can all be counted. The key point is that they must be paid, and their NOC TEER Code cannot be lower than your BC work. These experiences must be obtained within 10 years of your application for BC PNP. In addition, part-time years of service will be discounted, and co-op must be full-time, i.e. 30 hours per week.
- If you have at least 1 year of full-time or 2 years of part-time Canadian work experience, and this experience is related to the high-skilled job you applied for in the BCPNP, you will receive 10-20 points.
- Co-op work experience cannot be counted
Education level
- Diploma to Doctoral Degree, score: 5-27 points
- All post-graduate qualifications, such as Graduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, etc., must be at least 1 year old and can only be recognized if you hold a degree.
- For those who study early childhood education, they will get an additional 5 points.
- 8 extra points for a degree in BC; 6 extra points for a degree in Canada but outside BC
- Distance learning degrees and ESL courses are not counted as additional credits.
- Only the highest level of education can be counted, i.e. if you have a degree and a master's degree, you cannot count twice. If your Canadian education is lower than your overseas education, your overseas education will be counted.
Language
- CLB 4 or above: 5-30 points
- Know French and have completed a French language test in the past two years with a minimum CLB 4, plus an additional 10 points
- The English proficiency required to pass the Canadian Diploma is generally 20 points.
BC work labor
- The largest percentage of BCPNP points is labor, 1-55 points, and points will be awarded starting from an annual salary of 24,960 Canadian dollars
- If you study for a diploma in early childhood education, you will have 4 points. However, based on the score you get for the BCPNP nomination, you will have enough points no matter whether you have a degree, which college in BC your diploma is from, whether the course includes paid internships (Co-op), etc. Because of the shortage of occupations, the BCPNP score requirements are very low.
- If you are studying other majors, according to the median salary of different professions in BC, it is recommended to study IT-related subjects, and the minimum salary will be 43 points. If you go to a college outside Vancouver to study for a Postgraduate Diploma or a 1-year Graduate Certificate, and after graduation, work in an IT-related job outside Vancouver for one year, you should have enough points for the BCPNP.
- According to the latest nomination score, if you study Social Science or Business, the median score you get may not be enough to meet the requirements. It is recommended that you go to a Public Post-Secondary Institution in Vancouver to study for a Postgraduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate. After graduation, work for one year in Vancouver or Squamish, Abbotsford, Agassiz, Mission and Chilliwack. This should give you enough points for the BCPNP. Or it is recommended that you complete a designated Master's degree at a specific institution in BC and then you can directly apply for the BCPNP.
