What is the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)?
- Students who have completed Canadian courses will generally have a PGWP work permit and can find a job. You can apply for the Provincial Nomination PNP in the province where your job is located. If the Provincial Nomination PNP is approved, it means that your conditions meet the provincial requirements, and it will nominate you to apply for Canadian PR with the Canadian federal government.
- When applying for the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP), applicants can also apply for Canada Express Entry , which is the federal government's fast immigration channel. This program emphasizes age, IELTS , education and work experience. Applicants must have accumulated 1 year of Canadian work experience. Since Canada Express Entry does not score your annual salary, type of work, etc., it does not matter what major young students study.
- The standards for Canada's Express Entry and Provincial Nomination PNP are different. The latter generally emphasizes major, labor, and school location. Therefore, older applicants are advised to consider the Provincial Nomination PNP, but pay attention to the selection of subjects and schools. Detailed examples are given below.
Provincial Nominee PNP Core Requirement 1: Find a job
- The Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) emphasizes the applicant's connection with the province and economic contribution. The core requirement of all Provincial Nomination Programs is that the applicant must hold a job. BC PNP and OINP will add points or lower the threshold for certain jobs. A random job will not be enough points. Therefore, if you decide to study and immigrate to BC or Ontario, you must be careful in choosing your major. Other Provincial Nomination Programs: AAIP , MPNP , SINP . Basically, if your job offer is related to your major, you can apply for PNP. There are no requirements for salary, major, or academic qualifications.

- BCPNP and OINP give extra points to schools outside of Vancouver and Toronto. In some cases, your choice of school may determine whether you will be nominated by the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). You can read more about this on the BCPNP and OINP pages.
- In addition, since MPNP has a point reduction mechanism for applicants who study or work in other Canadian provinces, if you only work in Manitoba but do not study in Manitoba, it will be difficult for you to apply to MPNP . Please click to learn more.
- SINP has simpler requirements for in-province graduates, and they can apply for provincial nomination without scoring.
